My family moved into our current house in the spring of 2017. By winter, we realized that we had been completely overrun by boxelder bugs seeking a warm place to shelter!
After many, many rounds with the vacuum and finally a contract with a pest company who came to seal up the house better, our house is mostly bug-free. But I will never forget that winter, and this illustration is my way of rediscovering any affection I once had for these harmless but no-less-uninvited insects.
I promise that if you invite this particular boxelder bug into your house, she will NOT bring her friends! Unless you explicitly ask her to, anyway.
