Apologies up front – I’ve been feeling a bit scattered lately, so this post will likely reflect that. Sometimes, life is just too crazy to contain in a neat little blurb!
I’m currently dressed for my first interview since I first landed my job at Hudson Legal back in 2012. It’ll be a very similar job for one of the attorneys I met while working there; should be a good gig, but for some reason, I’m still really nervous! Partly because I had to jog my memory on how to dress like an adult who isn’t worried about getting puréed prunes all over her shirt….
Foliate Oak Literary Magazine has given me word that my story will be published on their site (https://www.foliateoak.com/) at the beginning of April. Since April 1st is Easter this year, I’m going to assume they mean April 2nd. I got to approve the layout this past week, and it looks so good! I can’t wait for you all to read it. If you’re still using Facebook, you can also follow them here for the update.
If any of you will be in the Grand Rapids area on April 28, I will be at Knapp Charter Academy’s Spring Craft/Vendor Marketplace from 10 am – 3 pm (and so will my mother-in-law with her Knit Picks by Grace). They have a Facebook event page with all the details and several posts from the different business owners who will be there. I hope to see you there!
And finally, the reason I’ve been away from the studio: we’re starting to remodel our full bathroom, and I’m so excited about it! The shower/tub is getting gutted and redone next month, but I’ve started on the painting and I’m absolutely loving the new look.
For context, we started here:
Let me tell you, with no natural light in there, that clay colored paint casts a really strange tinge on a pale white girl like me…doing make-up in there was definitely a trip.
My first step of the process was to paint the cabinets something other than muddy brown:
Lola supervised very carefully. That step happened ages ago, and now we’re finally getting around to the rest of the room. Floor, tub, toilet and tile up next!
So that’s where my head is these days. What do you do to refocus when life speeds up without warning? I could probably use some tips!
